No Escape

No Escape was the first game I ever made, it was a project made by a team of first grade graphic artists and programmes.

During the project I had the roll as game director, most choices for the game were made by me.

Story

The story is a rather depressing affair, it is about this prisoner girl that tries to escape the tortures environment she had been stuck in. But even after trying to escape the only exit she could find was to take her own life.

It is a story about futility, and how individuals can truly be trapped.

It is a bit much in hindsight.

Game play

It is a simple 2D platformer that was designed to be a bit slower, where the main mechanic is figuring out what jump to use. As the player has access to a high jump and a long jump.

Thoughts on the project

In the end I got to say that the project was quite good, for a first time project. I am happy with it.

 

There are small mistakes that I would like to fix here and there, but nothing drastic. Which to me is the sign of a good project.

A video with the entire game and commentary

The concept was simple, A 2D platformer with a light horror tone. We decided to show that tone by trying to make the game slow and deliberate in its play. Making it more into a puzzle platformer.
